I was asked to come on as a regular illustrator for Column Five Media and Course Hero’s ambitious infographic project. Course Hero aimed to include highly illustrative educational infographics to their vast catalog of online study guides. Over the timespan of two years, 600 vector infographics were generated, covering existing works of literature, both popular and historically relevant. Learning points such as themes, main characters, motifs, context and author were covered and emphasized with relevant illustrations.

The success of each infographic depended on detailed research to ensure each work of literature was represented accurately and tastefully. A strict style guide was required to ensure consistency across the many designers who were autonomously creating these infographics. Adobe Illustrator was utilized to meet strict file size and SVG requirements.

I worked on 70+ titles, coordinating with producers and designers in a variety of timezones to ensure deadlines were met. Here is a selection of some of my favorite projects I got to have my hands on. Check out all the infographics on Course Hero’s website:

The Raven - Edgar Allen Poe

A Brief History of Time - Stephen Hawking

In Cold Blood - Truman Capote

Maus - Art Spiegelman

The Art of War - Sun Tzu

"My team and I feel so fortunate to work with David regularly on one of our biggest projects - it's been a truly rewarding partnership, and hard to imagine someone who brings more thought, skill, and creativity to their work. The graphics and illustration we do require a balance of structure and creative freedom that David has shown from the start, and he has always been a true pleasure to work and communicate with, someone we truly consider part of the team. I'd recommend him without hesitation and hope to continue our collaboration into the future!"
